On April 2, 2026, the P. Stradins Medical College of the University of Latvia hosted the 9th annual international conference HEALTH. PLEASANT SENSATION. PRACTICE. in Jūrmala, welcoming healthcare and beauty industry professionals to the college.
As in previous years, the main aim of the conference was to introduce participants to the latest innovations in aesthetic medicine and to share practical experience in promoting holistic well-being.
The morning session focused on an in-depth look at the future of aesthetic medicine and cosmetology, where scientific advancements meet practical application.
Dermatologist Zane Prikule-Rūsiņa addressed one of today’s most relevant topics – the potential of exosomes. Emphasizing an evidence-based approach, she explained how these microscopic extracellular vesicles can revolutionise skin regeneration processes at the cellular level.
Continuing the theme of technological innovation, dermatologist and aesthetic medicine specialist Alena Soha introduced the audience to the ONDA Coolwaves technology. Her presentation highlighted the use of innovative microwave technology for non-invasive body and facial contouring, offering high efficiency with minimal discomfort for patients.
Certified beauty specialist Rūta Grunte and cosmetologist, SPA and aromatherapy specialist Janīna Vasiļjeva emphasized the power of manual and natural methods – from the impact of Maderotherapy on overall well-being to Buccal sculpting facial massage techniques that serve as an effective alternative to invasive procedures.
Interest was sparked by cryotherapy specialist Kristīne Pētersone, who presented insights on cryostimulation. Drawing on 15 years of experience, she explained the short and long-term effects of cold therapy on tissues and the patient’s psycho-emotional state – a crucial factor in sports rehabilitation and aesthetics.
Adding an exotic and innovative touch, cosmetologist Ludmila Stavro-Freiberga introduced the specifics of Korean spicules - a method that showcases South Korea’s ability to combine natural resources with advanced technologies.
The first part of the conference concluded cosmetologist and GMT BEAUTY lead trainer Terēza Beļkova, who discussed the importance of skincare in developing professional treatment protocols, considering seasonality as well as clinical, physiological, and environmental factors.
Traditionally, the second part of the conference offers a series of practical workshops for beauty specialists (in cosmetology), cosmeticians, and massage therapists. This year’s programme included the following masterclasses: “Medium-depth peeling with 3 million microneedles suitable for year-round application”, “Application of high-intensity pulsed light (IPL) in aesthetic cosmetology: theory and practice”, “Cryostimulation Practical demonstration in body volume correction, reduction of edema, inflammation, and pain”, “Classical and deep tissue massage combined with cupping. Elements of Tibetan massage with fire”, “Sculpting buccal facial massage”, “Maderotherapy for body contouring”.
We are truly pleased that the college was filled with active engagement throughout the day, and participants confirmed that the programme offered valuable content and high-quality learning opportunities. The successful event once again demonstrated that Latvian specialists are committed to continuous education and evidence-based practice, integrating international experience to ensure high-quality services and client well-being.
