DESCRIPTION OF SPECIALTY
A Doctor’s Assistant (Feldsher) is a healthcare professional who, in accordance with the competence defined in regulatory enactments for medical treatment and patient care, provides emergency medical assistance to patients in life‑threatening and critical conditions at the pre‑hospital stage and in hospital emergency departments. The Doctor’s Assistant establishes diagnoses and treatment plans, prescribes medication, and ensures continuous medical care and preventive measures for patients. He or she organizes and manages both their own work and that of colleagues, and educates patients, members of society, and team members.
A Doctor’s Assistant (Feldsher) works in outpatient medical institutions, emergency medical services, hospitals, and other institutions providing healthcare services.
MAIN PROFESSIONAL TASKS OF A DOCTOR’S ASSISTANT (FELDSHER)
A Doctor’s Assistant (Feldsher) assesses patients’ health conditions, diagnoses health disorders, and performs examinations. In collaboration with a physician, he or she ensures continuous medical care, including necessary treatment, using appropriate medical technologies. The Physician Assistant provides emergency medical care to patients in lifethreatening and critical situations, in accordance with guidelines and methodological recommendations. He or she prescribes medication and implements preventive measures in cooperation with a physician. The Physician Assistant educates healthcare specialists, medical support staff, and members of the public.
He or she also participates in organizing the work of emergency medical services, disaster medicine systems, and primary healthcare.
GOAL OF THE STUDY PROGRAM
To educate and prepare competent Doctor’s Assistants (Feldshers), trained in accordance with contemporary professional standards, who can provide highquality patient care and medical treatment both independently and as part of a healthcare team, and who contribute to the maintenance and promotion of public health.
PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION OF STUDY PROGRAM
The study process, in accordance with the program, is organized in college classrooms, preclinical simulation rooms, and laboratories. Students acquire courses through lectures, seminars, and practical classes. The study practices included in the program are organized in cooperation with healthcare institutions and emergency medical services, based on established collaboration agreements.
