DESCRIPTION OF SPECIALTY
A social rehabilitator participates in the development of social rehabilitation plans for clients whose inclusion in society is hindered by various social, mental, or physical difficulties. The rehabilitator supports the acquisition, improvement, and maintenance of clients’ social skills, implements social activation measures, and encourages clients to develop the interest, motivation, and ability to live independently and fully. They evaluate the outcomes of social rehabilitation services, prepare proposals for their improvement, and promote the active involvement of clients in selecting and receiving services, as well as in drafting and implementing their rehabilitation plans.
Social rehabilitators work in institutions within the social welfare and healthcare systems, in social service provider organizations, associations, or private companies registered in the social service provider registry. These institutions deliver healthcare, rehabilitation, and social rehabilitation services.
MAIN PROFESSIONAL TASKS OF SOCIAL CARE WORKER
A social rehabilitator evaluates the client’s social functioning by identifying obstacles, determining the level of social skills and activities, and clarifying the client’s wishes and social needs. In collaboration with a social worker, the rehabilitator participates in drafting and implementing an individual social rehabilitation plan and works as part of a multidisciplinary team. They monitor the process of acquiring, developing, and maintaining social skills, helping the client to understand behavioral norms in society, to act appropriately in high-risk or stressful situations, to develop interaction and communication skills, and to orient themselves within social environments.
The social rehabilitator identifies and attracts resources, cooperates with the client’s family members and support persons, and evaluates the social services provided. They continuously improve their professional knowledge and skills through further education and maintain professional competence. Working within multidisciplinary teams, social rehabilitators collaborate with other health and social care professionals and institutions, ensuring confidentiality of information and adhering to non-discriminatory practices.
GOAL OF THE STUDY PROGRAM
The aim of the study program is to prepare qualified and competitive social work specialists who can provide high-quality social rehabilitation services in accordance with their professional competencies.
